It’s been over ten years since the release of Jedi Mind Tricks’ seminal album, Violent By Design, and underground hip-hop fans still constantly gravitate to the grimy essence of Vinnie Paz, Jus Allah, and the boom-bap virtuoso known as Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind. Arguably the most influential underground hip-hop album of the 2000s, Violent has been described by critics as an “underground treasure” (AllHipHop) and has been praised for Vinnie and Jus’ brazen lyrics as well as Stoupe’s innovative instrumentals. Unbeknownst to many listeners, the album was actually recorded in Stoupe’s bedroom and originally pressed up on the group’s own Superegular Records.
Out of print for the majority of the decade, Violent By Design has remained in demand by hip-hop fans worldwide. Babygrande Records has responded to this by re-issuing the pivotal album as a limited edition clear vinyl set. The cover, containing a photograph of a U.S. soldier calling for medics during the 1967 Battle of Dak To in Vietnam, is presented in its original form on this collectable release, for which only 1,000 copies have been issued for the entire world. The album has been digitally remastered and the track list has been excluded from jacket’s backside to serve as a memento for diehard Jedi fans that have scoured the web for the original picture of the Philly crew performing before an intimate crowd. This is a must-own item for any Jedi fan as is already becoming as rare as the original release itself. Customer Reviews |
